XBMC on OrangePi 2 with Debian Jessy

KODI is running under OpenElec, so that proves it's possible to run on OrangePi (plus)

Has anyone actually got it running now on Debian Jessie?

I'm running Debian8_jacer_2.img and if I attempt to run kodi it crashes unable to set resolution.

Is there a source version of kodi (from openelec) that will run under this debian image, with hardware acceleration?

It would seem that the Mali drivers work now, so why won't kodi run?

You should probably ask Jernej if it was possible and how much work would be involved in getting Kodi to run properly under Debian Jessie. I would be interested too.

One of the reasons why I choose to port OpenELEC on OPi and not only Kodi is that I have full control over whole enviroment. That way is easier to ensure better performance or that things even work. I never tried to build Kodi on Debian for OPi. That being said, I don't see any reason why it would not be possible to run Kodi on Debian. Currently, OpenELEC is using 16.0 RC1 source code with following patches: https://github.com/jernejsk/Open ... cts/H3/patches/kodi Fell free to try. However, don't count on me much. I lost interest due to poor drivers and completely open source version on horizon.

May I inquire as to what do you mean with "completely open source version on horizon?" It is a shame you lost interest as you seem to know quite a bit and have a good handle on these things, but I suppose we can't blame you for that, either.

As you probably know, my implementation is using binary version of CedarX made by Allwinner. This implementation http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread. ... =2199415#pid2199415 is using libvdpau-sunxi which is completely open source. Currently, aforementioned Kodi doesn't have H3 support but it should not be hard to add because libvdpau-sunxi itself supports H3.

Probably now I know much more about these things than most of you, but I learnt enough just in a few months, so someone else could do that too. Currently I don't even use Kodi and I probably won't for months. One of the main reasons why I did it was to shut up people who said that it is impossible to have HW acceleration on Linux. I could argue that there is libvdpau-sunxi but I thought that this would have a greater impact

I'm also a fan of theory that prototypes should be thrown away and production quality code should be written from scratch based on lessons learned from prototype. This project is no different. There is a lot of things that I would do differently and better if I would start from scratch. But for that I have no interest or time.

i run the build on Opi plus, and there are issues:

- remote control through HDMI for LG TV does not work properly, only fiew keys work, but not that one as you want :-) for push button there is a totally different reaction on TV, that is only for few keys.
- WiFi does not connect to AP 1043 with OpenWrt WPA2, wired network works ok.
- no official repository is avaliable in build for OpenElec

Other functions looks OK, I have RPi2 and on OPI plus there is 4 times faster then on RPi2

It use a modified version of  libvdpau-sunxi to get HW aceleration on A10/A20 SOC without X11 server.

I know this fork for some time, I actually reffer to it in the same post you replied to. While I like that it is completely open source I dislike the amount of changes to kernel and other libraries. I will play with this concept when I will have time.

Is there any chance to run Kodi on Debian Jessie or maybe Ubuntu? Is there any progress in this direction? Openelec works very good but I would have desktop and mediacenter on one SD card.
