When I connect my EPUP 8508 wifi dongle with RTL8188 chipset and power on orange pi one , the wifi led flashed (it shows it had been detecting).
but when I connect to any access point the OPI one immediately reset.
what is wrong ?!
what should I have to do?

I think you need to install firmware-realtek package
  1. sudo apt-get install firmware-realtek
Copy code

After along time I had found a way for this problem.
edit "/etc/modules-load.d/modules.conf"
change '8189es' to  '# 8189es'
add '8192cu' to end of file.

pro more performance and disable power saving creating file with this command:

nano /etc/modprobe.d/8192cu.conf
options 8192cu rtw_power_mgnt=0 rtw_enusbss=0

use crl + x and y for saving.
that will fix problem for wifi with8192cus chipset.

I have similar problem with ralink card. It always says authentication error. Then reboots. Waste of time.

The same wifi dongle works like a charm on latest openelec build

add your wifi chip name (like 8192cu) to end of "/etc/modules-load.d/modules.conf" comment all other wifi chip name by putting # to first of thet line.

Try some simple troubleshoots to fix WiFi connection problem:

Check that the antennas are fixed well.
Make sure that the wireless Camera is powered on.
Ensure that the password is correct.
Check the SSID in WiFi settings.
Make sure there is no signal interference.
Check that the camera has the correct IP address
         Update firmware.

Hope this will help you.

Make sure that the EPUP 8508 wifi dongle is correctly connected to the board aa route planner and that there are no physical connection errors. Make sure all connectors are firmly plugged in and that no wires are damaged.
