Hi!
I am novice in linux and I would like to make a NAS server for my home network.
What is the best OS for doing that. Lubuntu, Ubuntu Mate, Debian, Android? Ok, i put Android here just for joke...
I heard something about Openmediavault but there is no imager for OpiPC yet?

Nope.

USB with current crappy 3.4.39 kernel not so good, with mainline kernel superiour: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/504-quick-review-of-orange-pi-pc/#entry3244

Since you think about choosing a device with just 100 Mbit/sec Ethernet all this stuff does not apply to you: http://linux-sunxi.org/Sunxi_devices_as_NAS (in other words: Unless Steven prodives a new H3 model that doesn't suck more or less -- no internal USB hub please , no crappy USB-to-SATA bridge please, but GBit Ethernet) every H3 based Orange Pi is a really bad choice. Choose any of the A20 based models. They're way faster/superiour. If you live in the US this is currently the SBC of choice for a NAS: http://www.amazon.com/pcDuino-pcDuino3-Nano-Lite/dp/B00ZEPZGQO (GBit Ethernet and SATA!)
