Cheaper than OPI-PC: OPI-ONE and OPI-Lite are coming!

This looks very interesting - but will it get more support than the Orange Pi PC. Despite several attempts and many installations, I do not know ANYONE who has managed to get an Orange PI PC working with Debian and serial, sound and GPIO all working - the kind of things you would take for granted on a Raspberry Pi. Even today the website has old versions of software which simply don't work.

Has anything changed to make us want to buy these new products? Indeed will anyone from the company respond because all attempts up to now have failed.

Since it's so hard to get all 3 USB ports working on an OPI-PC I wish I'd held out for an OPI-LITE.

Those problems weren't so much the hardware, but the software which lagged so far behind the development. Besides, what would we do with ourselves, if everything worked off the shelf???

There's neither a problem with kernel 3.4.39 nor with kernel 4.4.0-rc5: http://forum.armbian.com/index.p ... range-pi-pc/?p=3454

With kernel 3.4.39 you need the right settings in script.bin, with mainline kernel this is device tree stuff (so called .dts/.dtb files). Everything's working as expected when settings are ok (if they aren't you will end up with your "Lite" without Wi-Fi and USB). BTW: the Orange Pi PC is the only H3 based Orange Pi where you can really benefit from the bandwidth of all 3 USB host ports since no internal USB hub is used.

And there is no SY8106A on the board. (may be even fixed voltage /U53 on the back side?/)

I would prefer having one of the other available host ports on the micro USB receptacle but it is also somewhat reasonable that OTG is there (FEL mode -- not that useful on a board without NAND but at least you could boot the board without SD card).

And you're right: Looking at the images SY8106A is gone. I assume it would be futile to ask Stephen the simple question whether there's a programmable voltage regulator again for VCore or if One/Lite use static core voltages (and if so which voltage he chose).

Ok, let's wait for early adopters ordering their surprise package and reporting back in February (maybe the shipping costs being the most funny surprise ;) )
