hi to eveyone !
I want to buy an orange pi and I think to get the orange pi plus 2 , the more powerfull.
My application consist in a wifi - server and I need to manage mysql and more (apache2 , php , mysql).Orange pi plus 2 will be a server wifi and many more android devices will connect to it to send and receive data .
I 'd like to know wich image to choose for this board ....maybe the same of  orange pi plus , or not ? (difference between plus and plus 2 are MMC size , RAM size and little more).
My questions are related of "how to program this computer" because my interest is to install netbeans with java jdk and work directly
over the orange pi plus 2 , this is because I would like 2 Gb of RAM .
But working in java means to manage all of the features such as wifi , GPIO , serial comm and what else the board has .
What do you think about ? Is it feasible or I have to become crazy ?
Does the orange have a good software framework to work with it , like C/C++ wrapped library or java ?
Thanks a lot for your answers .
Walter

I'm still working with Android Studio , I program the android devices with this tool.
But install Android Studio on orange pi I think is hard ...more than 1 Gb for the installation and more then 1 Gb when working with it .
Unfortunately , Android Studio doesn't have a channel to send apk to embedded system , just only smart phone , tablet , TV ...but not orange pi
So , what to do to program this amazing mini pc ?

hi xlogan .
Thanks for your tip.
I will install this version and then the netbeans or else. Do you think this OS is good also for development , I mean to write java code and connect with wifi , gpio etc ?
Ciao

Yes i have been used it as a desktop pc and the performance is good, you could give it a try, but as you are developing in java, java is cross-platform so you should be able to compile your code in your regular pc and then execute it in the OPI, i think it will be better. Just install the java SDK to run the java programs.

ok I will find info how to do this in java - eclipse or netbeans . The problem is how to handle GPIO ...for the serial I know there is RXTXComm.jar and .so  for Arm .....
Do you think it is possible to debug also with cross-compiler ? ...usually it can ...Each device is shown as file in unix-like OS, then I have to call C code fron java to create my own java-library framework.
From the terminal by using echo command it is possible to set and see the status of GPIO , I have just to focus on this ....

I know it is possible to debug using cross-compilation, i have done this in eclipse with c++ in a raspberry pi and a gumstix com, not in java, but i think it is possible.
For the GPIO you could use WiringPi library (WiringPi), haven't test it yet, but i will tonight.
