Hello, the Orange Pi seems very promising for my project: a 3G-controlled rc car with live camera stream, is the raspberry camera compatible with it? I see that the Orange Pi has the connector and it would be awesome to use my camera for it beacuase it doesn't have an IR filter for nightvision and I do not want to buy an expensive webcam for that..
regards, Patrick

i think the Raspberry pi camera comes in both with IR filter and without the ir filter, i was wondering if it could be configured to act like a Thermal Imaging Camera  that would be a great project for someone with the right knowledge which i am sorry to say is not me, i can build most things but programing is my downfall now a days. for the understanding

In the production of image sensors, each sensor Day-light and IR-light(with little wavelengh spektrum).
In the last step, a filter decides whether Day-light or IR-light sensor.

Many of the security surveillance cameras (PTZ IP-Cams) have a mechanical filter, which is controlled by a light-resistant.
Day = IR filter (IR-Cut)
Night = Daylight filters

see here

by the way, i have an old WiFi PTZ Cam, time to destroy it an look inside ...

have a nice day/night

From my understanding the PI IR camera is just a low light version.  The colors are supposedly off but I don't recognize it when I look at the pictures take on my Raspberry 2.  From my experience this camera won't show you heat maps like a true Infrared camera would.
