How to Hardare Accelarate Chromium Videos (H3 Orange Pi Plus 2E)

I tried several several OS Images.
The already preinstalled Android did not work at all. One Click on Netflix than Update and this thing stopped working. No App clickable.

Raspian is a joke as well. Move the Window and it disappears. What does the manafucturer want us to do. Test a dozen OS images to find out that none is working?


Armian seems to be stable, but for a 4K capable device I expect  Videos to run butter Smooth at full hd resolution. The provided Armian OS image plays Youtube videos at 320 x240 px in 3 fps.

Has anybody managed Chromium to run Hardware accelarated with buttersmooth Videos? I dont dare to run 2 year old mali GPU tutorials because I think it is a waste of time and will not work.


Well and if anybody was successfull accelarating chromium videos. Any chance to get neflix or Amazon prime running smooth?

4k is on the edge for this hardware ... some codecs might work well.

MALI is unrelated to video decoding. It is a 3D engine. What you want is: http://linux-sunxi.org/Cedrus and http://linux-sunxi.org/CedarX

Bringing this support to Chromium seems like a hard task since so people try to add plugins which play videos in external (HW accelerated) players. In case you want to watch Youtube videos in full HD, this can be done.
