I missed your point about merging back. I can assure you that this won't happen with Allwinner's kernel. It's too much a hassle. If you want to close the gap with official OpenELEC then try to resolve compile issues with their, newer, systemd package. I had to revert it.

Also it won't happen until Kodi gets support for Allwinner chips. That won't happen until there is not complete open source support for HW decoding. This is actually already doable, but libvdpau must be changed a bit. I was thinking to try this, but currently I don't have much time. My changes to Kodi are also PoC quality, which means complete code rewrite is needed.

One thing about MT7601. I read that there is a lot of troubles with Mediatek driver. What if we use backports (ex. compat-wireless)? I think quality would improve with much lighter module. I also noticed that there is firmware file for that card. I'm not sure if FW is included in kernel module or in OpenELEC filesystem.

I changed the script.bin now lan goes but the sata I have no doubt as I do with kodi to know?

Yeah yeah  fully agree with you and that is why I mentioned "optimistic long distant future" .

Couple of things that  make our hopes alive though is that Lima project after too much of cold war is still picking up some momentum, Mainline kernel DE support(partial) patch is already submitted, Also we are hopeful that we can make the Opensource version of cedarx work. So someday.....

Yeah I too know nothing about this mediatek device. Earlier experience with Ralink devices indicated presence of FW. They used to be pretty stable though. So let's wait for someone to test it and see. Backports seems to be the right way to go if we need to support a lot more newer drivers.

Regarding the Display refresh swtiching, until the issue is sorted out do you think switching the default display refresh rate to 1080p24 will be a better option? How much of the actual content needs highter refresh rate from a practical perspective? Just a random thought that came to my mind today morning - <Didn't test  or analyze>

I just loaded the image up and an happy to report several of my WiFi adapters are working, using Openelec's setup config page settings. I don't know their chipsets, but, these are working so far.

TP-LINK TL WN727N   
Netgear WNA1100       this is Anatel's chip set
Blueway BY-BDU-050   (cheapest Wireless N I have, with an external antenna)

I tried a Dell 1450 D1450U which brought up a whole page of other (neighbors most likely) connections, failed to connect.

I've got a few more kicking around in boxes, I move here 3 years ago, and still haven't spread out many of my toys.

Can you make a list of the working  and non working devices by plugging those into a Linux PC and getting the output the below commands:

1. lsusb

1. dmesg|tail -50

Copy code

This will help to identify the chipsets.

Here is what I can identify from your list based on a internet search(Please confirm):

TP-LINK TL-WN727N - Mediatek MT7601 -BGN
Netgear WNA1100 - Atheros AR9002 - BGN
Blueway BY-BDU-050 - No idea, Probably a Ralink device

Dell 1450 D1450U -Intersil ISL3887 - ABG(very old and probably non-compliant, will throttle the whole network to bg speeds in some routers. a/b/g devices won't connect if N-only mode is set in the Router which should be the case to avoid old hardware from throttling the WIFi network)

Probably you need to use the right kernel also.

Can you try the same DVB on your build machine and try tvheadend there and compare the kernel and headend logs.

I don't have that dongle. I only have a rtl-sdr based dongle which I once used with my Marvell chipset based Pogoplug-E02 and it seemed to working well as long as your signal is good.
