Steven, it took some time, but I got it working now... thanks a lot for your explanations and for uploading the files. I did not use them in the end, but it was good to have them as guideline.

Hi, thanks for the files, my display is also working fine in raspbian. Display quality is great.
But, do you know how to enable the touchpanel ?

Hello,

I know the LCD connects to Pi through 50 pins FPC connector which doesn't exist in Pi Plus. However, I found out that standalone connectors are sold freely. So I'm thinking of soldering that standalone connector to my Pi Plus (it's a BAD incident that I didn't check the LCD compatibility with Pi Plus first) so that my LCD will be useful. I'm not educated enough in electronics so I'm not sure whether the schematics show this possibility. Even if it's possible, I'll still need to find out how to solder this by hand, it's a damn small thing.

It is not possible.
If you want to use 7" display, you can tray one with hdmi adapter form ebay.

That's sad to hear, since those adapters are quite pricy (chalk-elec even has one with only $5 difference from the LCD itself!). Moreover, with the adapter, the LCD must be externally powered. I'm thinking of selling it instead.

Just curious, what would be the use for OPI + 7" display ??
You can buy 7" tablet for $60-$70 with the same performance.

Modularity. A ready made tablet is static, while you can add whatever modules you need to OPI. Most tablets are also Android only, while OPI has Linux which has much more freedom to be customized and extended.

Your point about Android versus Linux is very important. I bought a $40 tablet recently and I'm stuck with Android and all the Google goo that comes with it. I was hoping it would have an AW Soc and I could reload everyting. But it doesn't so rather than brick it I just use it to learn a bit about Android.

Hello,

I purchased one of the 7" LCD modules, and it worked for quite a while, but for some reason it died. I ordered a second OPI to try it with, but it still doesn't work. I went to order a new LCD module, but it looks like they are no longer available, so now I am stuck with no solution. I'm fairly certain that the problem is with the adapter board, but I have no way of aquiring a new one.

Short of making the LCD module or adapter boards available for purchase again, would it at least be possible to make the schematics available? I'd be willing to try to fix the board, but I can't identify a number of the ICs, so once again, I'm out of luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
