[Idea] A wiki for beginners

So, the poll ended favorably.. I'm thinking of making the wiki, but right now, for a week or so, I won't be able to do that, because of projects and whatnot.... I should definitely be  able to do it from 18th onwards

UPDATE:I've started making the wiki. It's taking longer than expected though....
I want a few months (I know that's a lot, but I'm currently preparing for my exams so cut me some slack people) to make it. Once it nears completion, I'll post screenshots of the wiki

Why do you keep the wiki private? Isn't the whole point with a wiki that it'd be maintained by the community and updated and added to when needed? I was just lamenting the fact that there doesn't seem to be a good wiki for OPi-devices and one has to search and rummage all around the forums for OS-images or help with bin/fex-settings and such and I was thinking of making one on PBWorks or Wiki.wiki since they provide space for such for free.

It would be so nice have a page where people making the various ports of various distros, like e.g. OpenElec - port for OPi, could update any relevant information when needed and add/or remove links to mirrors for pre-built images and so on. It'd be a lot more user-friendly, too, than what we have now.

I'm not keeping it private. I'm a guy who loves to make stuff the hard way ,so I'm basically making this whole wiki on my own (the app, backend etc). That's the reason you're not able to do anything. I'm not stupid to keep a wiki private.

You're reinventing the wheel, then. Well, I hope you understand concepts like rate-limiting, hashing-and-salting and the likes.

I'm a full time web developer myself, and while making your own wiki sounds awesome, do you have any idea how much work that needs? Wouldn't it be better for the community to just have something like Trac installed at for example https://www.openshift.com/?

Ok guys, so, to make this process a little faster, I've fired up a DokuWiki instance at Openshift, and created a subdomain for it on my private domain.

You can access it at: http://opwiki.betavr.com


Registration is open - everyone can edit/create pages. I can also grant superadmin privileges if needed. Be careful with file uploads, because there is only 1GB storage for the whole site, so please don't upload sd card images. Otherwise feel free to do whatever you want.

I'm a beginner belonging to the group novice like anybody new to any of the  computer boards. There is a lack of documentation in Orange Pi for new users and potencial buyers so the idea is more than welcome. Nobody born knowing. You have to start from the basic and explain things in a simple way. That's why there is always a section title, for Beginners. Rapberry pi people are very good at it. That's the main reason of their success.

That's a good start. I'll try and contribute something there, at least once I get my board and can try things out myself. I did fork Loboris's kernel, applied some patches to it (including the firmware-loader patch) and I've been toying around with creating a Ubuntu 15.10 - image, so maybe I can also contribute something more than just text once the board is here.

Wow, I feel like I'm being left out here ;-;
But I guess we'll go the way suggested by beta. I'll start making contributions as expected ofc, but I'll simultaneously also make my own wiki, atleast as a project
