Information Codec X265 ?

I don't know the technical details, but skylake uses some sort of hybrid decoding solution for main10 profile, as fixed decoder only support 8bit HEVC. And it works like a charm on my i3-6100u lappy

I'm guessing they offload decoding to gpu shaders, as it was done in the past.

Does the orange pi pc let you encode H265/HEVC video with a built in NVENC in the GPU or are you talking about a different pc?  If it can encode with the GPU how fast is it and how can I do it?

Some 10 bit videos do play in 1080p the ones that I had were older shows formated to the older square tv formats.

No, GPU doesn't support anything related to video decoding/encoding. There is VPU for that. Only H264 encoding is possible, but it is not supported in OpenELEC.

BTW, NVENC is nvidia specific.

Thanks I just knew it took forever on my windows pc.  I convert videos recorded off my 4 tuner Tablo to x.265 to save space.
