You should read official OpenELEC docs first. Filesystem is mostly read only. You can install things only through Kodi's plugin system. If you install unofficial repository, you will get possibility to install rsync, for example. This is not OSMC. OpenELEC (and now LibreELEC) principle is "Just enough OS for Kodi" (something like that).

Something you could do there, is to get OpenELEC, to add a terminal program, or write one and try to get it accepted as an app. This wouldn't / shouldn't, be too far out of line, since there are console only apps, already in several repositories (but, probibly 3rd party) that we can't run, because there's no "root" access available. It make you wonder why their available, because, some could be useful.

For that you have SSH or serial console. Granted, I don't know any in-Kodi plugin which would allow something like that, but I think it is not really necessary, because SSH is easy to use and it is more powerful as plugin would be. I much rather like to spend time on kernel hacking, but I'm currently busy in private life, so HDMI EDID support is only half implemented.

The new Local Code Enforcement girl, has my neighborhood cleaning up, to shame the one family of anarchist renters, that won't clean up their act. It's had me outside more than I really care to be, for simple mold & mildew removal & maybe a little painting, all of which wasn't really needed at this time. Had no time to play, except late evening, when I'm already too tired, to make much sense of things.

Jernej, can you look at 3D issue? You don't need any 3D equipment to reproduce issue. Just enable 3d mode, play any movie (no actual 3d movie needed), then go to video settings osd, choose swap eyes option and see what happens - green rectangles on screen...
