Regarding your boot problems:
- Do you have any USB device plugged in during boot, like USB hub wi ...

Still doing the same with hub, mouse & keyboard disconnected. Booting from SD card, so eMMC issue not likely.
Like I said, it does it on both opi-pc's the same way, and it did it on the last version too. TV is a 24" Vizio @1080p.
(Pulse-Eight CEC Adapter: ) Connection notice, is new, but no change to end result.

Maybe you should try some other power supply.

Maybe you should try some other power supply.

I'm feel reasonably assured that, (the sold as) power supply, is sufficient for the task at hand, given the power management routines already in place, and, that no other failure in Openelec ocour, when higher processor function demand load modes, are accessed or applied.
In simpler terms, if this is the result of a weak power supply, it would be failing across the board, when other app processes are called.

So, I'm pretty sure this is either just a missed call to setup the resolution of the hdmi output, or it could even be the monitor itself at fault, not retrieving the signal.
The end result is the monitor sees the OpenELEC splash screen on cold boot, but, ignores the Kodi main screen, until power (Standby) is toggled on the unit.

Hold the phone, I just did cold boot startup again (confirmed a couple times), only this time I toggled the Monitors power, and Kodi's main screen does restore to normal.
Either way the monitors is not picking up the HDMI signal changes, after it change in resolution from the splash screen.
But, still this problem didn't start occurring, until about two upgrades back. Makes me want to ask, what was changed from back then?

Hello,

I ve used in the pass this vga to hdmi adapter with my android tv box and worked fine, thats why i thought to give it a try with orange pi pc.
On 1280x1024 monitor, i dont have video signal.
Screen is black, ethernet led lights and board green led is on.

But i also tried to connect it on my FHD TV through hdmi to hdmi directly and also having problem to boot up.
After i power it on openelec splash screen comes up.
For the next 2-3 mins it stays there stuck and then the screen goes black with no signal.
Ethernet leds are on as is the green led on board. No red light (should there be one?).
Power button doesnt seem to respond on short/long press.

Hopefully the problem is on my power supply, i got a cheap one psp charger from ebay.
But the leds are on, also the cpu is kinda hot, so that means it gets power. So maybe its a board problem?
How long does it take normally for openelec to first boot?
Also are there any loading screen or just a static openelec screen?

Sorry for the long post but i was really excited about the op pc and now it seems i cant do much with that...

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.
1280x720 would be great. I dont mind the black bars but on my monitor there is no video signal at all.
Have you tried openelec on a screen other than FHD and it booted?

Unfortunately i am a noob at linux in general so i dont think i can make those modifications,
but if you can point a tutorial link maybe i can give it a try.

Keep up the good work.

First boot takes longer, around 5 min and it reboots automatically when it is done. Currently well supported resolutions are only Full and half HD. I did research how to include automatic resolution set based on EDID and I will try to implement it soon.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

It boots no matter what monitor is connected or even in case of no monitor. Problem is that HDMI driver from Allwinner doesn't support non CEA resolutions, which basically means only half HD, full HD, 4K and some others low res. So it doesn't really matter if I try it on non FHD monitor or not, because I know what is the result.

You can try to change script.bin with sunxi tools and set resolution to 720p. Maybe your monitor will show something. You can find many tutorials on the net how to do that.

Well as i said, i tried on my FHD TV and the openelec splash screen comes up for about 2-3 mins then auto reboots (?) and then i have no video signal.
Definitely not 5 mins, so i guess it doesnt configure itself and fails.
Maybe its due to power supply. I ve tried 2 sd cards both samsung class 10 16/32 gb so there is no problem there.
Maybe my board is defective, i hope no.

Just to make sure i do everything right:

1. I use SDFormatter to format the micro sd card.
2. Then i burn openelec image with Win32DiskImager.

When i insert the micro sd card and power it on, green led lights. Should there be red led too?
Should i use other burning tool like rufus?
Maybe the image is corrupted.
I ll try to re-download.

Hummm. I've got one of those little "HDMI to VGA adapters" too, think I'll try it. And, of course OpenELEC Cold Boots fully, to the main Kodi screen, on the HP2335 monitor, which is on VGA set @ 1920 x 1080 w/60hz. So, Open ELEC no longer likes my Vizio VO22L FHDTV10A 22" 1080p (I stand corrected, on the screen size), yet it did two upgrades past.
So, let me make a wild stab of conjecture, best guess, that if I change the resolution in "Script.bin" to match what the HP is set to, the Vizio should start working again?  And, I need to make another correction to my entries. On my re-boot power button correction or toggeling power on my monitor, I'm not comming back to the "Kodi splash screen", rather the "Kodi main" run screen. The HP monitor showed me that too.
