Hello, all!
Please advice - I have recently received my Orange Pi PC and I'm currently looking for a Linux image that can play HTML5 video embedded in web pages.
Like YouTube or Vimeo, etc.
Flash video playback would be nice too.

I have tried Lubuntu Vivid by Loboris, but it can't play it.
Installed 3D / 2D drivers following melanrz tutorial, 3D runs smoothly but video playback hasn't improved.
Tried Armbian but no luck either.

OpenELEC plays H.265 from SD card nicely, but it has no web browser so I can't even test YouTube.
On the other hand, it seems that OpenELEC already contains proper drivers with HW acceleration, so I'm wondering if there are other
images which use those.

Hello, all!

You didn't tell which browser do you want to use.

Generally, you want something like libvdpau-sunxi, vdpau (also "export VDPAU_DRIVER=sunxi"), recent ffmpeg with VDPAU support and recent firefox (>= 44.0) Please note that I didn't test this.

AFAIK, armbian should already include anything vdpau related, so you should be good by only installing ffmpeg and firefox, but as I said, I'm not sure.

BTW: Libraries used on OpenELEC are incompatible with basically any other program and are discouraged to use. Special support for this libraries was added to Kodi.

I was thinking Firefox or Chromium, but any modern browser is OK, actually (what else is out there, Midori?).

Thank you for the tips, I have actuallly been testing the images I have listed w/o installing anything (except for melanrz tutorial I have mentioned), just by running Firefox and trying to see if it can play HTML5 videos.

I'll try Armbian once more, will install ffmpeg, hope this will do the trick - http://forum.armbian.com/index.p ... eg-on-orange-pi-pc/

Tested AP mode, works good using create_ap method.

Before using, install some packages:

Great Job to loboris.

I just want to add my findings about using 3g dongle (Huawei E3131A ) and OrangePI. There is so few quality posts on the web, that i spend few nights searching and trying right solution...

First i trying with ubuntu_vivid_mate(woks withouth modifications ) from this page... I tried everything, but no success..

Then, when i become more familiar with OPI, wvdial and usb-modeswitch and give a final tryto OPI before i switch to RPI and try to setup 3g dongle with Debian Jessy image (also from this site).

I folow the steps from this example and i could't beleved... the wvdial connects in the first attemp...

https://dug.net.pl/tekst/197/aer ... _e3131/#tryb_modemu

So everyone, if you want to use 3g dongle don't spend time with ubuntu, try debian... Otherwise i an big fan of Ubuntu an this is my frst touch with debian.

Rok

Hello everyone!

Could you tell me the most advantage OPI-PC image? Earlier I had problems with NTP and wifi dongles. Which of available images support wifi dongles, gpio, hdmi to dvi adapters, audio, correct NTP work and HW acceleration/decoding?

I had performance issues with minecraft server on OPI-PC, maybe some advice?

Loboris thanks !
I downloaded and installed the Ubuntu Mate on my OPI PC and everything works fine.
Only problem the screen resolution , in my case is a DVI 720p with 1360x768 resolution , I tried to follow the guides to create the custom scrpt.bin files but I can not .
I would take the one created by you " script.bin.OPI - PC_720p60_dvi " and change only the resolution but do not know how to be able to open it .
Does anyone know me suggest a simple way to change it ?
thank you.

@c-fox:
use bin2fex and fex2bin from sunxi-tools (http://linux-sunxi.org/Sunxi-tools).
1) bin2fex script.bin > script_bin.txt
2) mv script.bin script.bin.old
3) modify script_bin.txt as you need
4) fex2bin script_bin.txt > script.bin

Hello, does anyone knows if there's a new Ubuntu-based distribution (which is not end-of-life) available which would have Wifi working on Orange Pi Plus? Thanks!
