With a less than optimal PS the OPi is unstable and unpredictable, not inoperable, so yes, your first bet would still be the PS. I run my OPis with 5V5A, 5V8A and 5V12A better quality power supplies, and never have problems. Once I had power supplies and OPis burned up by a big surge followed by a blackout in my whole section of town, but that was a different situation. Most of the times I tried to repurpose cheaper power supplies (for whatever reason, eg not enough PSs at hand at the time) I had seemingly unrelated problems too. It is almost hard to believe how much difference it makes. Getting by in sparse occasions is okay, but to be able to rely on your OPi you should invest in a better PS anyway, that is, if you plan to use it in an any more serious manner. Perhaps you should take a look at your mains too. And a multimeter is a necessary investment. Untie your hands! |
