Hello;

Youtube is smooth? are you kidding me?

I can't barely open the youtube website. And when the video shows up it goes like a slideshow, with the stuttering audio, and everything else goes slow like hell.

I wonder how did you achieve that...

even using lubuntu , Youtube is smooth .
but lubuntu is unstable so i often restore it by using dd (the previously stored 32G sd card image) .

perhaps you use slow sd card .

anyway , i am satisfied with armbian .
and i have time . then upload my state of youtube on orenge pi PC's armbian .

Hi nobitakun i upload .
i state only the fact .
i take movie by camera not by PC .
so movie is rough .
anyway  i watch youtube very smoothly & i get sound from TV (=HDMI).
in this stage we may catch up raspberry pi 2 .

please see   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iDkHwxix7g&feature=youtu.be

japanese input is OK by scim-anthy .
------------
regards , tuyosi

(PS) the reason is

aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: audiocodec [audiocodec], device 0: SUNXI-CODEC sndcodec-0 []
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

card 1: sndhdmi [sndhdmi], device 0: SUNXI-HDMIAUDIO sndhdmi-0 []
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

and
even if you lose sound from HDMI , please  rerun icewesel then you get sound from HDMI again .

Sugoi. But I solved the problem, as you said, I used a totemo warui microSD card. Now I'm using the Sandisk Ultra 16GB I had wandering around and zutto iidesu!

The other problem is that video playing through SMPlayer is terrible slow and it gives video/audio desync. I don't know what player would work with VPU.

Henshin arigatou!

Armbian is either Ubuntu or Debian based. Currently we only provide CLI Debian and Desktop Ubuntu. If you need anything else, we provide build tools.

CLI Debian is more than enough. I installed a full XFCE desktop from it and it works pretty good. The only problem is VPU atm, since it is seen with a naked eye that the mali isn't accelerating video at all. When you play video on Android it plays flawlessly.

When there is a Linux release with full mali support like a normal Nvidia or ATI GPU then I will quit using Android. Till then I should use both.

P.S: Thank you hatahata, but I prefer to call myself gaikokujin, I don't like the negative connotation that the word gaijin adopted ;)
