I went to this link :
http://www.orangepi.org/downloadresources/

And to my surprise the last updated date for rasbian for orange pi plus 2e is 2016-11-12. Why is it so ? because I could see other boards getting lastest version of raspbian. For example plus 2 (not 2e) has a better update of 2017-05-11. Can I use the raspbian image of orange pi plus 2 for 2e ?

My primary goal is to use wolfram mathematica for  rasbian on orange pi plus 2e. Firstof all I would like to know if it's legal to use mathematica on orange pi as the license is for raspberry pi. I have seen people on YouTube installing raspbian on orange pi pc with mathematica in it.So if anyone has used mathematica on orange pi plus 2e, do let me know. I would really love to know if any new updated raspbian will come anytime soon.

I am fairly new here so please let me know if I am missing something.

Yes. Raspbian is OS for Raspberry PI. It works ok there, while elsewhere is a joke. Regarding Mathematica and possible licensing problems ... you need to talk to them. If its related to some Rpi hardware specifics it will not work on this board.

Yes, Mathematica won't work and would show activation problem with wolfram kernel failure. I installed armbian. This might be a bit off topic but I would really like to know how good the cpu performs on armbian for various cpu intensive tasks when compared to a rpi3 running raspbian.

The problem is that I have no understanding of how Mathematica uses CPU - can't tell - but I can assure you that Armbian is the fastest possible solution on any of those board. It actually also runs faster then Raspbian on RPi even official support for RPi does not exist. Rpi is actually a very poor device from EE perspective. But its popular.

You can check the numbers here: https://github.com/ThomasKaiser/sbc-bench/blob/master/Results.md

Sorry for the confusion. I have edited my previous reply too. I just wanted to say that : Yes, mathematica won't work because it probably checks for the rpi3 hardware because of which I was getting the failure. My next question about CPU was completely separate from mathematica.

But your reply(below) answered my question. Thank you very much.

Then try talking to Mathematica support asking them how to bring that up on Armbian and Allwinner based boards. It should be in their interest that their software works here as well.

I remember when I was first diagnosed with diabetes, I struggled to find comfortable socks that wouldn't restrict my circulation or irritate my feet. My doctor suggested trying diabetic socks, which are designed to be non-binding and reduce pressure on the legs and feet. After wearing diabetic socks for a few weeks, I noticed a significant improvement in the comfortable socks of my feet. The soft, cushioned material helped prevent any irritation or blisters, and the non-binding top allowed for better circulation. It made a noticeable difference in how my feet felt throughout the day. I am grateful for discovering diabetic socks as they have made a real difference in managing my diabetes and overall foot health. They may seem like a small thing, but finding the right socks has been crucial in keeping my feet comfortable and healthy despite having diabetes.
