Some time ago bought OrangePi PC from AliExpress, but I've encountered some problems with it right away, respectively - it doesn't really boot up. Tried it's original (the one in package) power cable (Xiaomi 5V 2A), but no luck. Went hunting different other cables (including Samsung Quick Charge cable with 5V 2A / 9V 1.67A output). Had a little luck with yet another cable which got the same 5V 2A output, but the luck ended with only two times booting up - all the other times it just gives no signal whatsoever - LAN port is the only one showing green and yellow lights together, but that's about it.  Tried 5V 3A cable from ebay (description said it's for OrangePi PC and similar devices) but that also gives no results.
P.S.
Tried original power supply cable from Steam Link which is 5.1V 2.5A and still no luck.

Hi,
Please try the following:
  • It seems your cables are good. But unfortunately I am a little uncertain about your power supply(PS). If it is a Xiaomi phone PS, it could be that it can't hold a stable 5V voltage as most Phone PS do -background: they do not need to supply a stable 5V voltage as the charging controller in the phone manages the voltage/current- The OPI needs at least 5.00V, otherwise it gets unstable. I checked that with a lab PS and my OPI PC -> ~4.9V the OPI got unpredictable, sometime it booted, sometime it crashed during booting, sometimes it crashed after running for a bit. Please check with a Voltmeter the voltage of the 5V rail at GPIO pins 2 or 4 (5V) and pin 6 (GND) when the OPI crashed (LAN leds on). If the voltage is below 5V , change the PS. I use a 5V/8A 6USB PS and other users reported that a original PSP PS works. If the voltage is good and only if you checked that (if you have no voltmeter, borrow or buy one)->
  • Please can you check with a different SD card and a different image if it boots. Sometimes when you do not follow the instructions of the image creators, it can be unstable too. I had that too when I got mine OPI PC ;)
I hope that helps a little

I don't have any instruments to check that, but the question is - why did it start two times (both times from different source in different buildings) and then for no apparent reason stopped booting up with the same one cable? Could it be just me being lucky to get >5V output those two times and not anymore?

With a less than optimal PS the OPi is unstable and unpredictable, not inoperable, so yes, your first bet would still be the PS. I run my OPis with 5V5A, 5V8A and 5V12A better quality power supplies, and never have problems. Once I had power supplies and OPis burned up by a big surge followed by a blackout in my whole section of town, but that was a different situation. Most of the times I tried to repurpose cheaper power supplies (for whatever reason, eg not enough PSs at hand at the time) I had seemingly unrelated problems too. It is almost hard to believe how much difference it makes. Getting by in sparse occasions is okay, but to be able to rely on your OPi you should invest in a better PS anyway, that is, if you plan to use it in an any more serious manner. Perhaps you should take a look at your mains too. And a multimeter is a necessary investment. Untie your hands!

Turns out (at the moment) problem was not with the OPi PC itself, but with the fact that Armbian was wrongly installed on SD card. Using Etcher software for burning image on card seem to have solved the issue. Didn't know that faulty SD burn can make so big impact on the board boot-up... Anyway, will edit this post if something changes.

I had that same problem but it was because I had no operating system installed, use an 8GB memory to mount an image and then insert it into the OPI PC slot and it worked
