power button

The power button between the power connector and OTG connector, is that supposed to do anything.
I pressed it to reboot my board, but no effect. Only way to reboot it seems to be by cycling the power.

The button needs to be held down for ~5 seconds to shut down. Hold it again for a few seconds to turn back on.

Better yet, if your OS is running, just 'shutdown -r now' to reboot, or 'shutdown -h now' to turn off.

I did use the shutdown command, but then wanted to switch on again.
Just tested and indeed I need to hold it a bit. Thought it was just press and go.

I have an Orange Pi PC and I can't get any response from using the power button. Pressing and holding does not power up the device. Similarly, pressing and holding the button for 10s while powered up has no effect either. Should I have a program reading the associated pin and initiating power down if the button is pressed perhaps?

I have the Orange Pi PC and tried 6 different Android images and they all support it differently (if at all.) I settled on Beelink. If you press and hold the power button while it is running you get the on-screen shut down prompt. If it is off click the button (no long press needed) and it turns on.

Instead the "shutdown" command try with "poweroff".
I know it is not approprieted, but for me, with the shutdown, the sata disk remain powered.

Has anyone had any luck with the power button on an Orange PI PC and Retronganepi as a OS?
I can't get it to work. Is there a certain script i have to write or anything? Any help would be appreciated.

You have to have enabled sunxi-gpio driver, but it only produces BTN_POWER events (like pressing button on IR remote). This can be handled by systemd if I'm not mistaken. We talked long ago about that in Armbian forum.
