resize partition

I would like to be able to resize the partition. When I ssh into "openelec wHardware support" I can't find the resize.sh mentioned in other threads.

You need to use "resize2fs" to resize partition.
If you need to increase partition, before, you must delete it (f.e. with fdisk) and then you need to create new lager size partition (with fdisk), but, first sector must be the same, as deleted  partition has.
After that, you must use: resize2fs /dev/mmcblk* SIZE_OF_NEW_PARTITION in Kb, Mb or Gb.
Size of the new filesystem must be less or same as you create with fdisk.

Before you make any actions with your disk, i'm strongly recommend to read help of resize2fs command.
use: "man resize2fs"

What other threads? Here on orangepi forum? You must understand that this is special, minimal distribution, which is not meant to be used for general purpose (most of filesystem is read only). That's why set of tools is not large.

Isn't there another option, like changing the partition size with PartedMagic's "live CD" would that work?

I guess you can connect sd card to regular linux pc and resize partition using standard way, even gparted should be ok. OF course, assumed you mean data partition, not boot. But, from other hand, openelec is able to resize partition after first boot, so there should be some tools for that. How is it detected that partition needs to be resized?

I'm noting things seem to be getting a little funkier. IE: I can't get the customer settings to hold on the task bar, like the main page apps quick launch. I thinking I may have too many apps loaded (currently 77) or something (some apps beyond their shelf life, I've just kept, instead of dropping, hoping they update).
I've done the zero cache, and tuned the xml to the free memory size, to help with buffering. It's even now fails to complete a backup. So, I'm thinking it may be time, to expand the boot & data storage partitions or something. There's other things going on, with the way the newer apps (like f4mtesters, goodfellas etc), are handling the iptv streams, looping video segments  (3 to 4 times arrghhh). There's got to be some common cause, ls my thought.

If you used default image, then you have already maximum possible partition size. This is the main reason why OpenELEC reboots itself after the first run.
