yesterday i downloaded gapps pack for android 4.4 using "gapps downloader" app. the pack weighs about 360mb. and installed it by hands. just copied needed folders to /system. either using any android root explorer (to save permissions) or on external linux machine directly to system sdcard to system partition.
all works good. gmail, market, maps and youtube.

what is need to be copied by the /system path:

Core/required/*
GMSCore/common/*
GMSCore/0/*

just copy everything from this folders to the /system.

by the path GApps/* you can see different google apps. gmail, youtube and so on. copy the contents of folder of app what you want to the /system folder.
as example:

GApps/gmail/*
GApps/youtube/*

Why not "Google Installer"? It install all apps without "hand made".

i don't know. i told how i did.
i think, this way has one advantage. it allows to embed only necessary gapps directly into rom image.
but it is only one from many ways.

ok, i have a question.
how to enable/show/install the bottom navigation bar? the bar with "back", "home" and "processes" buttons. with clock and status. what is the name of this process/service or what is it?
