su user don't work

Hi guys !

Just got my OrangePi. I install Raspbian and had some trouble to login until I try root/orangepi.

I would not login as root so I 'adduser user'.
I cannot 'su user' or even 'ssh@orangepi_IP'
There is no error, just the connection close.

Any idea ?

edit /etc/group and add your username to the line on 'sudo'. Read the file and learn the format.

I have not had problems with the original OrangePi version of Raspian, when I use SSH:
just use 'ssh root@192.168.0.xxx' to make the connection. You can not use the name of the board as 'ssh root@orangepi' before you have given the name and IP address of the board to the DHCP/DNS server of your domain or written tehese to  /etc/hosts of your Linux PC.
With your Linux PC you find the address of your OrangePi with command
nmap --ttl 1 -sP 192.168.0.0/24
- it gives you the IP address of all devices in your 192.168.0.XXX local network. Just try them all, if you don't find any other way to comprehend which is wht.

I have the same problem too. Furthermore the same thing happens when I want to use su to change to another user. I try to su and nothing happens. The logs indicate the pam session opens and then closes immediately. Other logs have no indication of anything else.

I am comparing pam files but the contents seem to be the same with raspberry pi.

In fact don't loose so much time with Raspbian. Although you might think to cut the learning curve by using a known os (which I did the same mistake). But it is not true. Because it was just migrated from banana-pi a while ago and nobody seems to care. It is bug ridden and useless. You'd better go for "armbian" which currrently has Jessie distro, current kernel (compiled in March) and working out-of-the-usb right
