So, further to my threads on problems with Orange Pi Zero being fragged by expansion board (see here: https://organicmonkeymotion.wordpress.com/category/orange-pi/ )

I eventually lost ethernet configuration for some reason.  I could edit the connection with nmcli but it no longer save.  There would be no errors reported when saving but the connection config was lost after edit.

So I decided to erase the SD card to start again.  I put the same clean distro downloaded from armbian.org.  System now reports a error in authentication token when prompting for new root password.  I tried a new SD card with the distro, same problem.  I downloaded a new copy of the distro (just in case my distro was corrupted).  Same problem.

I do notice I am now getting a flashing red led, two quick pulses every second.  What does that mean?  I have a green led next to it.

In Armbian, this mean system is waiting for login, nothing unusual. For problems with Armbian (e.g. this authentication token error), better ask in their forum, not here - https://forum.armbian.com/. Did you try older image? There where update latest days, it's usual to have some issues.
