When entering MASKROM mode, I am able to boot from SDCARD the Debian HDMI-IN image, but once the board is running, what can I use to write this running image to emmc?
Armbian has a tool to do that.

I'm stuck with this board. I manage to boot from the SDCard with the Debian HDMI-IN image, but can't upload it to the eMMC.
Is there any way once the machine is up and running with the SDCard to transfer to the eMMC?
Armbian can do that.

What did you have to do to get the sd card boot to work?

Go into MASKROM mode by shorting TP50265 to the ground.
You can also try to stop the boot with the console (UART) and then enter setenv devnum 1.

Thanks! I'm curious about your experience using the rk3399 board. What is your use case? Has it met your needs?

I am trying to use it record clips from a camera connected via HDMI but I'm having issues w/ skipping frames, framerate, etc. I've also found it very difficult to follow the instructions on flashing/debugging.

My use case is capturing audio/video/slides for a conference.
So I have to recordi laptop output via HDMI-IN, while filming the speaker, and getting his voice.
I should record in different files for subsequent editing, but also, if possible, broadcast a lighter version at the same time.
For the time being, despite the HDMI-IN part working more or less, the rest does not work (no camera, no sound in).
It's a work in progress.
Yes, the instructions are a pain in the neck.
