In the spec., it says the ethernet is turned off by default.  What does this mean?  Can I use the ethernet after it is turned on using the server software?  If not, how can I turn it on?  Thanks!

Hi the ethernet is not disabled by default it is the POE (Power Over Ethernet) option that is disabled. Depending on the image that you use the configuration file for that image will stipulate whether Ethernet and / or WiFi are enabled.

I would personally recommend using armbian with any Orange device unless you are just wanting to use as a media player then I would recommend an image of either OpenELEC or LibreElec based on Jernej's great work.
