Can I fully trust a VIN report, or should I still check the car in person?

I’m planning to buy a used car, and a few people already told me about VIN reports. Of course, I’ll order one because, as I understand, it’s an important thing when checking a car. But can you fully trust it, or should you double-check something else too?

As far as I know, VIN reports only include officially confirmed info. So if some repairs were done in a private shop or an accident wasn’t reported to an insurance company, that won’t show up in the VIN report either.

Still, it’s super important to get a VIN report because even that data is really valuable when assessing a car, its condition, and its price. I’d recommend FAXVIN since their reports are quite affordable, and you can get the full car history there, like accidents, liens, mileage, title status, and more. Think of the VIN report as your first step in checking a car, but it’s not a replacement for a personal inspection or a mechanic’s check.
