Hello, friends! Today I will tell you how I installed a boiler and what came of it. If you are also thinking about buying and installing heating equipment, this story will probably be useful to you.
I recently decided to update my heating system and settled on a Baxi Compact 24 condensing boiler. I spent a long time choosing, because I wanted the boiler to fit under my heated floors and provide the house with hot water. This choice turned out to be justified, because heated floors work better at low temperatures, and traditional boilers are not quite suitable for this. If I had taken a regular boiler, I would have chosen a smaller model - 14 kW, since the square footage of my house allows it.
Now I will tell you how it all happened.
Buying a boiler: how I came to the condensing option
Initially, I came to the store for a traditional boiler, also from Baxi. But after studying the characteristics, I realized that the Baxi Compact 24 is ideal for my conditions. Its price at the time of purchase was 70 thousand rubles, and this was before all the known events, when prices had not yet skyrocketed.
The boiler is good: compact, powerful and versatile - just what I need for a house with underfloor heating. By the way, such a boiler works best if you provide the correct slope of the pipe so that the condensate flows back into the boiler.
Installation: step by step
I did the installation myself, so the whole process was not only exciting, but also educational.
First, I hung the boiler using a laser level. I used self-tapping screws to fix the plate and ensure the reliability of the structure. Then I prepared the outlet for the chimney: I removed the template, drilled a hole and hammered in the plugs.
Then the most interesting stage began - drilling the wall for the chimney. Here I encountered a small difficulty: the length of the drill was slightly shorter than necessary. But, as they say, we are not looking for easy ways. In the end, I drilled everything through, brought out the pipe, adjusted its slope, and the system is ready!
Temporary solution: radiator for starting gas
To start gas, you need to connect at least one radiator. I have underfloor heating throughout the house, so I installed the radiator temporarily. The system is filled with water, the pressure is set - the boiler is ready for the first start.
By the way, if you are also doing a furnace install and do not know where to find specialists nearby, I can recommend A Plus Heating and Air. They offer furnace installation services near you, they work quickly and efficiently.
Starting the system: what to pay attention to
After installation, I began to fill the system with water. By the way, for this I used a hose from an old gas stove - a budget and effective solution. You open all the taps, check the joints, remove the air through the Mayevsky tap, and you can turn on the pump.
Another important point: do not forget to monitor the pressure in the system. At first, I had an error due to low pressure, but after pumping everything was fine.
What's next?
Now the boiler is completely installed, the pressure is normal, all that remains is to wait for the gas workers for the final start. Tomorrow, when the holidays are over, I will call and arrange for the gas connection.
