As a beginner with i96 I'm unclear of the layout of the 40-pin GPIO. In the AliAxpress page is a layout prited totally different from the (industry standard) RasPi layout. Both have 40 pins 2.54mm but looks different.

Before desrtroying something I want to ask:
  • Is the 40-pin GPIO layout of i96 incompatible different to e.g. OrPi 3?
  • Same question about GPIO voltage: Is it correct to use i96 with 1,8V incompatible different to e.G. OrPi3 with 3,3V?

I don't know the layout either.

There are 2 contradicting layouts in a manual 'OrangePi i96 User Manual_v0.9.1.pdf'. One is an ambedded graphics. It says there is no 3v3, only 1v8. Based on this layout, I wired a GPIO to a DHT11 (with pullup resistor 5k according to DHT11 docs) using 1v8. When this is connected, the i96 does not boot.

On a following page, the manual quotes some "gpio readall" output which contradicts the 1st layout. I could not find any explanation for this, or any other (plausible) layout documentation anywhere.

Any information?

Best information sources:
OrangePi i96 schematic https://raw.githubusercontent.co ... _i96_v1_2-print.pdf
RDA8810PL datasheet  https://www.openhacks.com/uploadsproductos/2016030304473558.pdf

In the schematic, look for part marked as EXPORT.

it is interesting
thanks

If you can read hardware datasheets, I suggest also download the full RDA8810PL datasheet from https://github.com/Testato/IOTph ... Processor.V1.04.pdf

Most RDA8810 datasheets on the net contain just the first 9 pages (preliminary), so are useless. This one is COMPLETE datasheet (126 pages) --- Gold mine for developers
