Hello everyone,,
Im asking this 100% genuinely. For those who are advocates of open FLOSS and the like, my layman's understanding is that the ideal endgame is all software being free and open source.
If that is the ideal endgame, is the endgame also to remove any ability to make a living writing software or doing anything else software dev related? Again, I am being 100% genuinely curious here, I want a better understanding of the ideals. It seems to me that if everything was free and open source, then nobody would be making money on anything, and this would essentially be a really important hobby to all of us.

Edit: In case its relevant, Im not against free and open source software but PERSONALLY I am of the opinion that in our current society making money with what I code is a bit more important than furthering someone elses "greater good". Family to support, retirement to save for, kids college funds, etc.
