Hello everyone!
My name is Tomislav, I am a new to this forum so in a first place – I wish You all a lot of luck with future projects with Orange Pi!
I just receive my Orange PI One for my project and as a beginner I have a lot of questions (perhaps maybe they are already answered – just point me to a link... ).
I make a program solution (applications, database, server, LAN) for one company which is using it for some time and is working pretty ok.
Recently I found on a net an Orange PI ONE and I get an Idea to replace a customer Android Tablets with OPI One.
For now I experiment with it and it will fit into my needs but I have some doubts.
I have a finished solution for windows OS and for Android so I have next problem:
1.) Should I go with an Android or with u Linux using WinMe? My app. is using a network port for connecting to PostgreSQL server, USB ports and camera – it had to work 24h/7days (there is possibility to use a timer switch to reboot once per week or day?! Also auto start on power should be great!
2.) What image to use of Android or Linux OS? I need a good, clean, fast boot, working image without ads-on. Just a basic with working LAN port, camera and USBs...
3.) If it is possible – which extensions should I order for a next situation (for future projects...)
• A small screen or LCD (long life time screen) for some basic output (OK, ERROR – NOT PASSED TEST, ERROR – TO MUCH VIBRATIONS,)
• I would like a possibility to activate outside relay
• Using of a GSM data modem
4.) Do you suggest using another model of Orange PI for a described project? I need a really stable platform
5.) I make some tests with some Android images and what I noticed: when I connect a windows PC to an OTG USB port, on a pc nothing happened (no indication of USB device so there is no possibility to install a driver). Is that normal with OPI One? Example, when you connect an Android phone or tablet it is asking for a driver to share a data between PC and tablet or phone. It also allows me to fast transfer a compiled application to device…
That’s all for now, for any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
With best regards
Tom
[EDIT]
I make a test with a next Android image: Beelink_X2-SC_V1.2-Custom_ROM Except of a buggy virtual keyboard, I am satisfiedwith performance and it seems that everything is working ok (I am still waitingmy orange pi camera to arrive…). Only problem is: auto power on Orange PI one doesn’t automatic start up onpower what is for me very important. Does anybody know how to achieve this?
With best regards Tom
